The CVL program was pushed pre war by FDR, over the objections of BuShips, modeled on the CVE program, which he also had insisted upon. However, resistence was considerable, and CNO only agreed to order one cruiser conversion in January 1942, a month after Pearl Harbor! Two more followed in February and three in March - and the orders stopped - until after Coral Sea and Midway. It is these six ships which are modeled in RHSBBO. The other three ships appear in their light cruiser form.

You can say that I personally checked almost all the ships (all for Japan and all Allied warships) since I am basing my game modifications on stock and rewriting CHS data into it.

You should especially check LSD and LSV - all of them have wrong arrival date in CHS. Some of them even are arriving in game on date their name was changed (half year before comissioning), and most of Eastern Coast built ones have their arrival date equal to their comissioning date.

Quite right. And I am allowing NO UNITS to come in after the end of September, 1945 - so they don't count for my purposes. FURTHER, I add THREE MONTHS to commissioning date for work up - which means I would not have them appear until Feb and Mar 46 in any case. They are too late for the war. Two problems:

1) Tyranny of Distance (DOD terminology): US ships are weeks from a war zone no matter when they arrive.

2) The US is not willing to commit green units. Actually, in 1945 it was taking SIX months for work up of an Essex. I used the earlier, more desperate figure, so those ships would not be delayed. In fact, these two ships would not have been committed before May and June - after even the original scenario is over.

Finally, note that RESPAWN STILL EXISTS. I need SOME carriers to accelerate if a ship gets lost and needs replacement.

Structurally, because I cannot forsee fictional game events, through the end of 1945. But I am recommending calling it earlier based on certain criteria - and allow the players to decide. At the end of 1945 there is also a code screen that cuts in evaluating the situation.

USSBS said the war must end by 1 November even with no atomic bombs, or invasion. A scholar of that at UCAL says the conclusion is valid although "the reasoning is not." I think the Allies have done very badly indeed if they cannot win after the arrival of atom bombs and the Soviet Red Army.

Structurally, I found too many units to add for the late war period. Also that the game is almost certain never to reach those dates. Why not cut out units we can never have in favor of ones that should be there? I need slots - and trying to add all the missing late war stuff only makes that worse - not better.

I allow players to decide when to end the game - but only through Dec 31, 1945. No new ships after Sept 30, 1945.

The whole issue could have been avoided if the respawn design was left with PACWAR and they went with historical names. No confusion and historical fiction writing necessary. So you have 2 scenarios coming...missed that.
