Graphics Jerking?

Post by solops »

I just got through with my first couple of quarters and the outstanding issue with the game (to me) has had almost no comment here. The only mention of it is over in the support forum, to which I just posted. That item is: the jerkiness of the animation. I was really looking forward to this game, but the spastic behavior of the graphics makes it "not much fun". The play happens so quickly that I cannot follow what happens. The animation is so jerky and fast that it appears that some of the frames are missing. I certainly do not mind the quality of the figures or the general level of the art, but I really cannot see what is happening. Heck, X's and O's would be fine with me if they moved smoothly and slowly enough for me to follow the action. And yes, all firewalls, antivirus and anti-spyware is turned off. I am using the 1.092 Beta patch.

I have a brand new Dell system:

P-IV Pentium D 820 series processor (2.8 GHz, 800 FSB)
1 gig 533 MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
160 Gig hard drive with about 120 gigs empty.
256 MB Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX video card

All the latest updates to drivers and WinXP.

The problem is so big that I have to believe that only a few of are seeing it or there would be a lot more comment. Any help or comments?

I think a lot of people expected the graphics to be as is....so its not as much an issue as getting the game to play a good game of football.
I wish the game looked and ran as well as at least Madden 02, but it doesnt. And David never said that it would be a graphical juggernaut. A lot of the people that post here are old FootballPro guys. So for now, at least, most of the posts are going to pertain to the actual game on the field and league issues.

That being said, I agree with you. The jerkiness is a bit distracting, and im still getting used to it. I used to be a 'coach only' mode player, but now I generally pick up my gamepad and play arcade, so I feel your pain. Which begs the question to David, is it possible, withing the game, to down the road add animations to make player movement more fluid...or is that not possible. Im not a programmer, so I have no clue.

I am a "Coach" mode player. And until (I hope) Maximum Football my favorite football game was the original Madden Football on the Apple IIe.

Yeah, I understand about the graphics and animation. We may all be spoiled. And I'll be happy with them as they are IF we can just slow the pace of the play presentation down. Right now I cannot follow the play at all.

Please give us the option of slowing down the presentation and I'll put up with the "Jerky" animation. I just want enough time to see what is occurring.

As I have played the game a bit more it has become easier to follow. The only really rough spots are on pass receptions and the tackling event.
