Carrier capacity

Well, for starters, I'm a total n00b when it comes to hex-based strategy games, WPO is my first, so have som patience with me [;)]

I am experimenting with the carriers and am trying to change the plane-capacity on them. Easy I thought and changed the Capacity in the database on the Hosho-class to 52. Then I changed the Daitais to 26. Thinking that I had created a Supercarrier of the 20s I started up the game. The planes wouldn't fly and the capacity of the carrier didn't change.

So now I have searched through the database, and I can't find any other place to change the capacity, what am I doing wrong?

You have saved the scenario in a new slot, and remembered to use both the scenario and database editors?

Yes, the scenario works fine. Modding everything else is no problem. When I look at the carriers stat-screen it says Capacity 26/52 if that is of any help. The daitais have the right size, but after a while they re-size to the original sizes and start flying.

26/52 means that the carrier has the correct capacity as you've defined it, and is carrying 26 aircraft out of 52 possible. I'm thinking it might be a problem with the air groups...

Hmm, have you remembered to assign not just the new size, but also the maximum size for the air groups? If you don't, then your 26-plane daitai will automagically reset itself to 13.

It could be the air groups, I'm at work right now so I can't check, but when I look at the air groups they say 26 planes and 26 pilots. I'll check when I get home.

But another thin is, when I look at the TF screen it says that the carrier has a capacity of 26, but perhaps that is the available planes.

Yeah, when you look at the TF status screen, that number is the number of aircraft carried by the carriers in the TF.

BTW, when you check on maximum aircraft in your daitai, look at it in the editor. One is the number of aircraft it starts with, the other is the maximum number of aircraft the group can ever have, and which it will automatically revert to. So 26 aircraft in a 13 aircraft daitai is a no-no, and will confuse the program.

I have set Max to 26, and I have set ready to 26. In the game it says that I have 26 aircraft ready and 26 pilots.When I wait for a while the capacity on the ship says 26/15 and then the daitais are 9 and 6 aircraft. So the problem seems to be with the ship and not the aircraft.

Then you've been hit with the so-called "Resize" bug. Sounds like a joke, but annoying is what it is. Tankerace et al are trying to track it down and squash it as we speak.

Well, the problem isn't the resizing, it's that I can't change the capacity of my carriers. The resizing in my case is "good", since that enables my carriers to fly planes.

And once you let it run for a bit, the capacity goes down to 26/15?

I see a problem with the last screen. The capacity says 26/52, but you're carrying 52 aircraft.
