Database Editor Ship does not match in-game ship?

Post by Mike Carroll »

I have some ships that I have modified or added to the database. The ship displayed in the game does not match the one in the database. Seems to have incorrect turrets and facings.

Attached is the correct ship

Incorrect ship view - even though this is the Salt Lake City it is a Pensacola Class

Every time you modify a class, you MUST modify every single instance of this class as well. This means going into the ship list, finding every Pensacola class cruiser, selecting another class for them to be part of, and then RE-selecting the Pensacola class. It's ultra-lame, but there's no way around it.

Got it. Thanks. By the way as I am poking around in the editor is seems the upgrade paths for US battleships seem to be all screwed up. I have been correcting them - but is it something I have done or just some problems.

Depends... Have you been moving classes around?

No I added a couple of classes. But it looks like some battleships are upgrading to cruisers etc. But I did not move any around.

Hmm... Something must have shifted out of whack...

Can you show a screenshot with an example of one of the battleship classes that's wrong?

Well I went and loaded the original scenario 8 and things are ok. It must have been something I did. I am going through and debugging the ship classes. Darn. I am basically finished with this.

The only thing I can think of, because it's happened to me MANY times, is that you must have accidentally moved something that's thrown everything out of whack. It can happen quite without you noticing.

As far as I can tell, the list has moved four places upwards at some spot. It's exactly the sort of thing that's happened to me.

Not sure whether it is on spooky's but witprfsh makes batch updating of changed classes ( or LCU pointing to new TOE ) much easier. When creating scenarios I use ecclectic compbination of methods: Editor, witpload/unload ( and make changes in excel ) and WITPExcel for mass viewing ( but not updating ) and witprfsh for batch changes ... but I try to only use the editor for "surgical" one off changes ...

Thanks, I will have to look at that. Not sure I am going to do this again. Except of course to update the one I am working on:-)

Well, it is a lot of work, but sort of rewarding in the end.
