AI Player Substitution Problem

I carefully select the players I want at each position and then during the game the AI makes changes. At first I thought it might be due to fatigue, but no. No matter how much time goes by, the favored player never returns, although he IS still availabloe if I change formations. Makes no sense.

Please stop the AI from changing my selections.
