The need for a clean re-install?

Post by garysorrell »

I havent seen David or anyone say its necessary to uninstall, then reinstall and patch for new updates.....but, I was having all sorts of wacky problems, especially navigating menus in League mode, and was also having trouble with created indoor teams disappearing...and other stuff that got the 'Purple warning of doom' that required a F9, or esc and quit.

I then decided to wipe MaxFB from my drive, reinstall it and apply the latest beta. So far, its an entirely different experience. Its running great, gameplay is good, menus are functioning.

Im not saying its something on Davids end, it very well could have been something I did, downloaded stuff or just a ghost in the machine, but if you are having probs...it's worth a try.

Different people seem to have very different results with this. Some can install many new builds over top of their current one without problem. Others, like yourself see this sort of problem. Installing patch, over patch, over patch is probably not the best approach. I generally recommend uninstalling the version you have then installing the updated one. But again, some people don't experience any problems just installing over top.

Be sure to copy out any created content (leagues, playsbooks, etc..) beforehand and then copy them back when you're doing installing the new build.
