Possibe Bug Andrew Browns Extended Map version 4 CHS Scenario

Post by joliverlay »

I'm playing a game against Halsey as Allied. It appears hex 47,39 in China is broken. Nothing of interest in the hex, but I have over 100,000 supplies there, I have been trying to move out forever cause its a large stack (several hundred points) which I'd like to use elsewhere. I get up to 59 miles and then nothing happens. Japs in hex and adjacent on 2 sides only.

Good thing, he attacks at 400 to 1 odds and we both use 300 troops.

Ill have to look the hex number up, but it is due west into an empty hex not even adjacent to the enemy.

Since I have no industry or town there I'm wondering where the 100,000 supply came from?

Well I got it partly wrong. Always helps to double check.

The units started out moving west but changed to northwest and there is a Jap unit there, so they cant move.

So the outstanding issues are.

1. How did the non-road, non-city get 100,000 supplies
2. Why do my movement orders change after plotting?

Here is the picture. It works better than my memory!

I don't think that this is an issue with my map. I think it is to do with the way the game plots the path of LCU movement to bases. My guess is that the program does not take into account the location of enemy units when it plots the movement path back to a base. At least that is what it looks to be doing in this case as well as a couple of others that have been posted.

I did check the map data for that hex and it looks OK.

This sounds like the infamous "59 mile bug" ... if you are not plotting a move to a base hex, try that. That is the normal "work a round". That should work if you are not in a contested hex and only have enemy on 2 hexsides.

I am on it. It isn't the map, I can tell you that (having just learned how to do maps). It is likely in the location file. Anyway, even if it is hard code, I can beat it - just like I did Juneau.

As for the 100000 supplies.
Your looking at the LCU screen with all of the LCU's.
Ignore it, it's bogus.

Supplies for units outside base hexes are stored with the actual unit.
Click on a individual unit and see what it shows for supplies.
This is the correct amount there.

I have checked it in all maps - stock - original Andrew - extended Andrew - and RHS -

and it looks OK in all of them. My theory it could not be the map is confirmed.

However, I cannot duplicate the problem either. Possibly you have a defective program installed. If so, it should not reappear after you remove and reinstall.

This appears correct. Sometimes if you look at a hex not a base,
you get lists of units - many units not at a base - and other wierd things.
To know about a unit, you need to look at the unit itself. To know about a base, you need to look at the base itself. Anywhere else, you are sometimes going to see garbage - usually mixed with accurate data.
