USS Midway (cvb)

Post by Dan in Toledo »

Why is this class of carrier not included in the game? These were available for the Coronet/Olympic operations. PACWAR can continue into 1946 I believe. These ships should be included.

I agree with you. The Midway class carriers would have been available for Ops in '46. There also would have been some more aircraft, F7F, F8F, AF Guardian (single seat torpedo bomber). These could be incorporated. I basically want the biggest selection possible. Maybe even add some proposed ships designs that never reached construction stages for USN, IJN, RN, etc.

I'm less concerned with adding one or two ship classes that may have been available in the late/ending stages of the war. IMHO, these units wouldn't add very much to gameplay. By 1946, the US should (Unless you squandered your forces badly) have more than enough Essex class CVs to get the job done. I feel like adding the Midway or some of these other platforms is only to add to the "Eye-candy" appeal of the game. I mean honestly how many battles can you really get the carrier involved in? The japanese fleet should be toast by that point in the war...
I'd rather keep the slots open (in the case of Pacwar) for mods that I'd like to make, such as wartime upgrades to more prevelant platforms... Just my opinion, of course...
One last thing - WITP will probably have more slots for units than Pacwar did(assuming WITP can be edited) so maybe my whole point is unimportant...
