Gave the old demo a go...

Post by Qwerty »

and wow! I never heard of this game up until a couple of months ago and boy have I been missing out.

I really enjoyed playing the Korean demo so much. I've played this single scenario countless times. I've been searching all over for the game, I was planning to buy an original copy plus the new Matrix edition when it was released. I'm that hooked!

I was unable to find an original so now I guess I'll have to wait just like everyone else. Really looking forward to it guys.

I guess I will give this a go as well; it has been over a decade since I have played this game.

Your sense of time is warped my man...

The original TOAW came out in May, 1998!

Yeah, I meant the original TOAW. Having a child completely messes up all time progression perception.[&:]

And by tomorrow they will have grown up, moved out and started their own families. Believe me, it really happens that fast.

You also can have a look at this acrticle at szo. Or click (hello molotov_billy) here. The site has more interesting articles for you (i believe), also you can have a look at the forum.

At szo you can also find the original manual in pdf format. Click here.

When i first played toaw (toaw2) i also had to read the manual to get any clue..much of it comes when you are constantly playing. When you come to the point that the AI is boring you, you have it...[:D]

Well, as I recall, the demo is just the first ten turns of the Korea scenario. Normally, that's pretty straightforward for the United Nations, but with only ten turns you have a hard time turning back the red tide, especially if you're not familiar with the PO's weaknesses.

That's not true Ben. You can play the entire Korea campaign in the demo. Otherwise i could give him the hint on how to build the game by himself for free, what i posted in the szo forums...but as you can see there that seems to be quite..well from frustrating to heureka! Or so...

The demo at szo is of a "newer" date. Maybe you had the toaw1 demo?

It had more than 10 turns. I was playing UN and the first 10 turns went ok...atleast i thought. It was the back ten that got me(which usually means the first ten turns didnt go aswell as i thought).......Anyways when i have time ill check out that tutorial Telumar suggested. That should answer my questions. Hopefully, ill know what i'm doing before matrix releases the game. But then again...considering the amount of time its taking matrix to releases the thing, ill be a pro[;)]
