Problems with Ironman rules and Indoor Football...

Post by Magnum357 »

David, I'm working on an Arena Football Mode (not sure why, just wanted to experiment I guess) and I might have run into some quirks with Ironman rules.

The good news is that I think I have found a way to mimick the Iromman rules that Arena Football has pretty successfully. I'm able to make WR/DB's, FB(RB)/LB's, and OL/DL's. I've even found a way to have Offensive and Defensive Specialist work pretty much like they do in the Arena System. But it seems when I play games, I wonder if the game has a hard time accounting for the Ironman rules. For example, for some reason the QB scrambles a whole lot more when I have this Iromman rule system in place and no matter what I do, I can't seem to keep the QB in the pocket to actually pass. Once in a while, the QB does pass (but very rarely) and most of the time, he misses. Even editing the DataConstant values for the QB Scrambling doesn't seem to help all that much. That is why I'm wondering if the game has a hard time taking account of Ironman Rules I have built.

Another problem I'm having is the Man In Motion Rules. When I design a few Arena Plays, I try to have one man go in MIM torward the LOS. This seems to work fine (and it even works if you snap the ball before he reaches the LOS to have him go at full speed), but when I test this in Quick Play games, the CPU controled teams seem to want to have more then just the designated MIM player to move in Motion. I'm constantly getting the RB(FB/LB in this case) move a few steps to the right while the designated MIM moves torward the LOS. I don't know why the RB is doing this, and its not a major bug, but it is quite annoying too see since I had not given the RB any Motion Rules before the snap.

Another problem is with the PDS for the 50 yard Football feild. I don't know if this depends if your using Indoor Rules or Outdoor rules, but when I design a play in the PDS, I have trouble getting the Defensive Linemen to line up correctly when I run the play through the PDS or in Quick Play games. I don't know why, but locations where I place the DL do not correspond with the positions that actually occur while playing the game.

These are just a few bugs I have seen when trying to test my Arena Mode experiment. I will report any other bugs I run into if I find them that might relate to the Ironman rules.

David, got a few more problems with the Arena/Indoor Mode I'm making. I know the Canadain and US rules probably have higher priority then the Indoor rules, but I would just like to keep pointing out problems I'm having with mode, just for the record.

To inform you, my League is an Indoor Rules league with 18 teams, using rules much more standard to the Arena System then Indoor Football. It uses 10 Minute Quarters and 30 second play clock, 4 Downs, allows Unlimited motion, Live Feildgoals, 2 point converts, and Rouges is turned on. Overtime is 5 Minutes, PAT's and 2PAT's are at the 2 yard line, 1 minute Warning. Using Patch 1.039.

1. After much fustration, I have decided to use Stock Formations that come with the Indoor Rules package. Its seems that all of my Custom Formation Plays always have problems with something or another, so I decided to stick with Designing plays based on the Stock Formations. Stock Formation Designed plays seem to be much more stable then Custom Formation. Also, I think the alignments of things in the PDS is off with the Indoor Rules Feild. Even with Stock Play designs, the defensive Line for example will not line up exactly how I want them in a Quick Play game.

2. I'm using an Ironman system very similar to how Arena Football has theres. A few problems I have noticed already is that if I play a team against itself (example, Team A plays against Team A in Quck Play), players of the same name had different Skin Tones on each team. For example, QB John Doe on one team would have Light Skin Tone but the other John Doe of the Other team had Dark Skin Tone, even though they are the same team (Team A versus Team A in Quick Play). This seemed to occur with some players in a game, but not always with all players. Not a big problem, but I think the Ironman system I have might be causing this.

3. No matter what I do, Man to Man Coverage just has too many problems with it in my mode. Perhaps this is due to my Ironman rules as I only have teams with QB's, WR's, RB's, and OL on each team. No "real" Defensive Players as the Offensive players play both ways. I'm just guessing that the game might have some quirks with the Ironman rules I got and maybe that is why the Man to Man Logic rules on Defense are not working so well. But it seems that Zone Coverage works well, but I must use Stock Defensive Formations when I create Defensive Plays. Custom Defensive formations don't seem to handle Zone or Man to Man Logic well.

4. As noted above, in my Custom Offensive Formation Plays, my RB's are moving in motion even though I don't have any Pre-snap motion assigned to them. I will have to test out if Stock Formation Offensive Plays run into the same problem.

These are just a few problems I'm running into with my Arena/Indoor Football Mode.

Issue 2 has nothing to do with your ironman rules, I have noticed it myself in games I've played to test out my uniforms.
