Beta testers

Post by mogami »

Greetings, OK I fell asleep at the helm on Uncommon Valour and missed applying for a position on beta team. So I want to go on record now well in advance of the beta testing. I am available 24/7 will do complete turn by turn reporting. ANd will test from every concivable direction this game. I will test online, or PBEM or against AI.

I like your keeness to be one of our testers but, all people wanting to be beta testers have to wait till we call for them on the forums. I can't keep a list of people that post here 12 months before a game gets to beta (This is an example). Also we ask people at the time to write to us telling us why they want to be a tester.

Testing isnt about getting a free game. Some people think this in fact. Its alot of hard work on your free time. There are set things that the developers what tested and then reported on. In some cases it can get boring just running the game over and over again looking for a bug.

So please keep reading the forums and keep an eye out for the next call.

Greetings, I am well aware of the amount of time required. I was a member of Wild Bills Megacamp team for both North Africa and Watchtower. (I really enjoyed it.) I'll keep a better watch on this forum then I did UV (I was busy with Pac War-I was one of Major Toms testers for ver 2.3 and then after it's release I spent most of time playing it off line)

As regards to my comments about the amount of time testing, this was not just directed at you. <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> I also wanted anyone else that reads this thread, who may not of been a tester, to know that its also about being committed to the testing.

Just curious: What exactly are time demands that you all make. How many hours per day or week?

Yup... I play tested for the revamp of The older game, mainly running game all ways around, looking for problems and also seeing how the older Pacwar ran on my low end (now) P-II 233mhz with then 32MB and win95...now its a P-II 233mhz with 160MB ram and win98 SE ;--) )

I only hope the Newer version of Pacwar... WitSP will be runnable on my lower end (now...wasnt in 1998) Pc... If It demands a faster Processor then 233mhz eeps... then theres the older 8MB Video I have too.. sigh...

When you call for beta testers maybe I'll offer...if you have a need see if its actually playable on a lower end machine ;--)

Each tester is given time to get a basic handle on the game. Say a week. Then a list of things to test is given to each tester. Something may be small and only take one running of the game. Other tasks may take playing a whole battle from start to finish to see if you spot anything. If not you may have to play that battle all over again.

Then you may only be given a day or so to complete a certain task as well.

Ahh that would be interesting, most beta's I have been involved in are; "just play let us know" type deals. I would surely like to be involved in the Beta for WITP....
