Other Matrix Games

Post by Catch21 »

Just wondering if any TOAW players have any recommendations on other Matrix games. I've been playing TOAW for years and would be interested in a Matrix product similar in nature/scale though possibly a different time period- maybe Napoleonics or ACW.

Any ideas from those who own both TOAW and another (or multiple) Matrix products? Or are there any (popularity) polls out there I'm not aware of?

Thanks in Advance.

Get the Matrix version of the Talonsoft Battleground series when they are released. I've been a fan of those (ACW and Napoleonic) right alongside TOAW. They are comparable in "feel". You might also consider Highway to the Reich or the soon to be released Conquest of the Agean (same game engine). Relatively the same scale, but very different in play.

I’ll suggest going with SSG Battle in Italy. It’s the newest version and they have some good downloadable scenarios.

Yes, I guess the "Decessive Battles" series with Korsun Pocket, Battles in Normandy and Battles in Italy would be your thing. There are a lot of user made scenarios available too.

WitP is incredible - just you need a 4-5 year investment to play a full pbem with someone [:D]

Highway to the Reich/Conquest of the Aegean are must-own games in my opinion.  I think the continuous time aspect keeps a lot of people away, but I've yet to see a war game with an AI as challenging.  COTA to be released SOON.

SPWAW is a classic.  And free.

Flashpoint Germany is a very nice game - a bit limited in scenarios but interesting nonetheless.
