Of Decimal Points and Almanacs

Post by BryanK »

I just took a look at the screenshots up on the main page, and I noticed that the alamanc goes out to four digits for things like batting average and OBP. Is that customizable? It just feels a little weird since I'm accustomed to seeing such figures to only three digits.
Minor, minor issue. I was just curious.

It felt weird to me, too, but I didn't bug it; it seemed intentional.

A quick look at baseballreference.com offers some insight here. It appears they use four decimals as well...

I would assume, although I don't know for sure, that the reason behind is so that it is more difficult to have two people tied with the same BA, OPS, etc. This is especially useful after you have simulated a lot of seasons.
