The game wants me to install???????

This happened to me in Puresim 2005 Gold but I never wrote about it. It's happening in 2007 so I thought I'd ask. When I go to get in the game the windows installer tries to install something called "Smart Sounds Quicktracks" but it can't find it. I cancel it and it tries again. I cancel again and I get the windows error asking me if I want to send a report. I say no and then I get in the game. What does the game want from me?

When I'm in "manage game" and I click on "play options" it wants to install something called "board stats". I cancel that and then I get into play options. Again, what does the game want from me?

The game does not install or require either of thise components, so it must be some resource that the game needs is the catalyst for your machine to want to find that stuff.

It sounds to me like you may be infested with spyware in IE.

I just searched for "Smart Sounds Quicktracks" and it is apparently part of "Adobe Premiere" maybe you have a corrupt install of that application? Maybe try re-installing it? I'm just guessing here, because I've never heard this one

This definitely sounds like an issue outside of PureSim itself. I ran into something like this on a system once - the windows installer had somehow been messed up and kept trying to install an application other than the one that should be installed. You might try running a registry scan and repair - try www.ccleaner.com for a good tool for that. Trying to uninstall and reinstall the other application may also help.

I don't have Adobe Premiere so uninstalling that isn't an option. As silly as this sounds, I'm glad it's something outside the game that's a problem. I'll try www.ccleaner.com and see if I can learn anything. I wouldn't think it's spyware because I've had Spysweeper on my machine for ages.

Nope. It's totally bizarre. Puresim is the only thing I run that seems to attract this installation from hell. I have absolutly no idea how it got on my computer, but most people have no idea what's snuck into their machine. If you have any other ideas, feel free to share.
