Gambit Port Moresby - Jagdfluger (J) v. Przemcio (A)

Post by Jagdfluger »

Due to a house rule that Japan could not invade non-historically invaded Pacific islands before the DEI was conquered, I have decided to invade Port Moresby with a large force and develop bases through the New Guinea and the Solomans. We are already in early January and Milne Bay, Port Moresby and Guadalcanal are under development. Large naval and air forces have been dispatched to defend against counterattack.

Luzon has recently fallen. Singapore is under threat. China has assumed some importance, since the Allies are undertaking an offensive in central China.

In Burma, paras have captures an airfield and created an airbridge to ferry in troops. Another house rule restricts seaborne invasions until SIngapore falls, so they will have to hold until Rangoon can be secured.

Neither side has suffered damage to carriers. No battleships sunk at Pearl Harbor (another house rule stated that only one attack was allowed, the KB had to return to an announced friendly base before starting commencing another op).

We are playing CHS on AB standart Map...

Well CHS is totaly Different then NIK mode... different OOB and such as for now the only thing that is doeing fine are my Sub's i lost 2 of them to Air Attacks but they sunk Large DD Fubuki , 7-8 Transports , 3 Tankers and some Aux Vessels... the also damged few other Transports... As for now the only stable theather is China where 3 Squadrons of P-40's evacuated from the Philipines forced Jagdfluger to send his Zero's to China but this is a wild gose chase he will never get my P-40's In Burma the situation is stable as Japs landed in Mitkylia(?) but my ground forces are ready tu push them back[:D][:D][:D] and my fighters are Flying LR CAP to intercept the Transport planes[:D][:D] In Malaya i was able to deley Jap Advance and in the beggining of January they are standing in Johore but i should be able to hold there for a week or so... so Singapore will be fort lvl 8 or maybe 9[:D] The DEI is almost lost Japs are Landing on Java and will conqer it in a week... or two... no worries all worthy assets were evacuated...[:D] All of Salomons and Gilberts have been conquered... PM was also Captured Quickly. PI were captured preatty quick... i now race to reinforce my island Garrisons[:D]

As for now im holding... the only thing that bugs me in CHS is the low nr of Rep plane Advible... like 2-P40's B a month or 1 Buffalo I a month... i must say this sucks[:D][:D] Ohhh and Japs lost a number of MSW's when they tryed to clear mines in Hong Kong , Soreboja and Battan... well at least those Big guns had some shots...[:D]

Yes, Allied subs are taking a toll. I cannot figure out how to get my float planes and other patrol aircraft to attack. Allied subs stand right off Palembang with impunity. [:@]

China air war goes better with some offensive strikes agianst Chinese airfields. Large airfield in Java falls and large air forces are flown in to secure the landings. After Batavia falls in about week, Central Pacific islands can finally be attacked. Intelligence indicates they have mostly not been reinforced during the last month.

All quiet in Burma. The last several turns have let the Japanese send supplies and reinforcments.

Japanese are almost ready to push into Singapore.

Signs of carrier aircraft near Canton I.

More sub hits, with ASW groups of DDs and PCs unable to find those wily subs. I need to change the TF commanders of these ASW groups, I think.

Singapore ready to fall in three to four days.

i didn't have any success with air ASW on 1.8.

I usually put one or two DDs in PC/APD ASW group. DDs usually have aggressive commanders so i save couple of PP in that way.

Hi K,
Good to hear from you! Yes, what do you suggest I set my planes altitudes/mission?

Hi,

from my experience altitude 1,000 feet works best for ASW, 6,000 feet for Naval Search. But you'll not see many hits under 1.8, the main function of planes is to lessen the probability of sub attacks within their range. Basically I would employ ASW planes only at choke points (certain straits were enemy subs are likely to hide and near major bases). Better to give convoys escorts. I think it is mostly a waste of time for the IJN to actively hunt Allied subs all over the map. Some dedicated ASW forces on major convoy routes or near major base are OK, but mainly to clear this routes for convoys.

Well Canbera and Perth did a good job... and my DD's will probably survive. Now im staging A-24's to finish off Damaged jap ships... im happy with the Fish that hit Mutsu... Other news is that Soreboja Fell after 3 days fighting...well i kind of expected that... the funny thing is that Jagdfluger can't land in any Pacific islands till he captures all DEI Resource Centers and there is one on Northern Sumatra he can't attack till he capture Singapore so i think i have 2 week's of Peace in the Pacific more[:D][:D] any way those Marauders can be quickly replaced... any way why are they not carrying Torps??[:D]
