combat analsyer inconsistent?

Post by mtodd »

Depending on the order that I move units to battle, the combat analyser gives me different percentage results.

These are the same units, but just moved in different order(I have saved & replayed the battle many times)

I would of expected the same results, or am I missing something?

Thanks for any help.

The combat analyzer works by "pretending" to perform the attack 250 times and taking the average of the results from those 250 samples. When you redo the same predictions you will get different dice rolls for those 250 samples and this yields the different results you are seeing. Usually the difference should not be large though - but there will be a variance in the predictions given.

In v1.040 and prior the combat analyzer worked differently. It always gave the same results - but often they were incorrect. (Maybe also v1.070, I cannot recall exactly when the change went it)
