A MIDI Version of "The Natural" Theme

Post by KG Erwin »

For game use, this doesn't sound bad at all. Might be nice for an almanac theme for historical players. It's modern, but retains a feeling of nostalgia.

Note: got the glitch fixed. New link below:

Beach Boy explained how to do this.  Got to your Pure Sim folder, and inside the  Html folder, create a new folder called "music". Put the file I uploaded into that folder.  Now, it should play whenever you open the Almanac.

For my "Golden Age" baseball world, it's got the perfect feel.

No further comments on this?   Frankly, I wish that I had the original orchestral version, but this one is fine.

Sorry to go on about this, but its one of my favorite movie soundtracks of all time.

As far as I know, no soundtrack album for "The Natural" was ever released.  If anyone knows differently, please contact me.

Thanks,
Glenn

Bump. Got the complete version downloaded. See first post.  The "skip" glitch is no longer there. File is now called "almanac.mp3".

KG Erwin,

Amazon shows a musical soundtrack available for "The Natural".

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000002L6A/sr=8-3/qid=1149366302/ref=pd_bbs_3/002-4011126-8208866?%5Fencoding=UTF8

I don't have a copy of the CD, but I think that the best version the the Natural "theme" is the one that is within the "End Titles" piece.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, man. I'm getting both that one and the "Field of Dreams" soundtrack. Exactly what I wanted.

My "Golden Age" league experience will be significantly enhanced by adding some of this music.  It's perfect.  [:)]

Guys, I could go on and on about the importance of sound and music to the immersion level of this wonderful game, but I think you already know.

My experience with Steel Panthers:World at War is well-known, and being immersed into the period via sound is a vital part, IMHO.

I carried this belief into my introduction to PureSim.   There's nothing like the combination of imagination and the aural/video impression of "being there".

The game is solid, so eye- and ear-candy doesn't hurt.   [;)]

I like my interface music a lot. However, from time to time I do myself turn off my sound. I think Shaun did an excellent job with the in-game sounds (I do have other ralley cries too), but I usually keep them turned off because I'm either watching a Western movie, listening to a well-known talk show host, or listening to music when playing.

Also, I'm very grateful for Shaun allowing us to turn off the in-game sounds, but yet we can now keep the crack of the bat. That was a "huge addition" for me! I missed that crack of the bat.
