Am I doing this right?

Post by Croaker »

I havedownloaded the WIR patch and run it in the same folder that the original game is in. It came on and ran its little grey boxes etc. Looked good however the map and counters are the same. The African front still collapses on turn #1 despite reinforcements and the version number is listed as 2.0 when I sign on. I am still using the icon on the desktop that the original WIR install placed there as there does not seem to be an alternative way to initiate the game. Have I got this right? Should I re-download the patch? I really like this game incidentally. Like Goldilocks and the three Grognards said: "Its not too tactical, not too operational, its juust right"

I figured this out. Somehow during installation I had gotten two copies of WIR in different folders. The upgrade went to the one that was not the object of the desktop icon. I smoked this out by running a "find" query for *WIR*. After this embarassing discovery I deleted all alternatives and redirected the desktop icon to the appropriate files. The game runs fine with the enhanced map and counters.
