Initial Impressions

Post by Godzilla Blitz2 »

Just bought the game two nights ago, and haven't had much of a chance to play yet, but I wanted to post some initial impressions.

1. Setting up a league was smooth. Even though I had never seen the game before, it only took 30 minutes from the end of the download before I had an entire fictional league up and running, with photos installed and the game patched up. Very fast, very intuitive.

The only issue that I could see was that I had to type in the names of the minor league teams one by one. Would be nice to have something to randomly generate those names.

2. The "feel" of the game is excellent. Usually when I start a text sim, it takes me a while before I feel like I get immersed in a league. With PureSim, for some reason, it just was very easy to get "hooked" on the game. The game presentation is fun, the sounds and the graphic baseball add a nice touch, and overall the game has a perfect mix of complexity and simplicity.

3. Some of the screens seem too small. The minor league screen, for example, requires horizontal scrolling for me to see a lot of the player information. Seems like this could be bigger. Likewise, the in-game substitutions screen also requires horizontal scrolling to see the right-side columns.

4. On some screens, helpful information is omitted. Going back to the in-game substituion screen, there doesn't seem to be a way to view hitters' "eye" ratings without opening up the player's card. I believe this is also the case with the graphic overview of your organization.

Overall, though, I'm extremely impressed with the game so far. Big thumbs up.

Thanks for taking the time to post your impressions. Great feedback as well. I too agree there are some screens that could do for a re-work on the UI front. I'm glad you are enjoying the game!
