Adding western and southern front

Post by Shake »

I wonder that nobody has ask about adding the western and the southern Front to the game (with real combat action)? Perhaps this would mean many many work for the programmers because they have to construct the western allies armies.
I think this very good game could win a lot.
You should think about this.

Jurgen,

This was asked for quite a bit in the beginning. The problem is that, this being a DOS game, there are very strict memory limits on the size of the program, and it is already pushed to the limit. On the first update, there were a number of memory problems, so the code was tweaked and shrunk by Arnaud, doing a great job of eliminating problems. However, adding more to the map or more units would increase the memory taken significantly, and nobody would be able to run it unfortunately.

Sorry.

Why bother with the Western or Southern Fronts at all? Take them out completely and use the freed up resources to add to the heart of the matter, the Eastern Front. Add more functions or flexibility.

I understand that it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to make a change this drastic to the code. I just wanted to let everyone know that not everyone wants a "bigger" game.
