Artillery losses in the assault phase.

I have version 2.1+ and in the rules manual under assault combat phase. it says that only infantry and anti tank guns take losses in the assault phase. Yet (especially on defense)I take losses (sometime huge losses) to artillery in the assault phase. More so, When combat losses are shown I have even larger losses displayed and removed than were actually loss. Has the assualt rules been changed in 2.1+?
