How do you create a movie?

Post by *Lava* »

Okay..

I'm a dumby. I've looked around in the manual and haven't been able to find out how you do this.

Can someone walk me through the process please or give me a link to a thread that does.

Thanks!

There is a menu option that will turn on the creation of a screen capture kind of picture ( one of the large map and one of the micromap ) and these files are written at the end of each sides turn:

Image

The resulting images can be converted to GIF files and strung together as separate frames of a movie using a tool called GIFanimator.exe.  If you don't have GIFanimator.exe and don't know where to find it drop me an email asking for it and I'll send you a copy of mine with instructions etc.  I'm at larryfulkerson2002 at yahoo dot com.

EDIT:
I found GIFanimator.exe at the following url:

http://www.the-protagonist.net/downloads/gifanimator/

you can download it from there I presume.

Attached are the instructions I was going to send to anybody asking for GIFanimator.exe

Wow!

Thanks very much!

I'll check around the web and see if I can find the GIFanimator.exe.

Thanks again.

Keep in mind that the BMP files that the movies option writes can take up a lot of space. After you've converted them, you might want to delete them to save on drive space.

Well...

Like that's a reaaaaaaallly fast response with everything you need to know. I think even I can do this.

@J-Man, thanks for the advice, I've got plenty of HD space, but I would imagine that the movie option could really fill that up quite fast if you left it running.. [X(]

Okay..

I have found the large map saved in the "saves" file, but the micromap doesn't appear. Is it suppose to be in the same file or somewhere else.

I end up with shots of the large map for both the allied and the german moves... but no micromap that I can tell.

Any advice?

I'm sorry I don't know where your files are going.   I always look in the "saves" folder for mine.  The smalll map always has a "u" in the name and the large map always has a "m" in the name.  Lilke this:

Fire in the East 1941-1945.Axisu011.BMP ......small map name
Fire in the East 1941-1945.Axism011.BMP....... large map name

And I always get both files so I don't understand why you don't.

That's because I'm an idiot and didn't scroll down to see the different format.

Anybody wonder why folks never ask me to help fix their computers?

It's a combination of mods so that it's some from one and some from another and you can find the one I'm using here:

Hey Mr Lava: I'd like to see a movie you put together. No pressure.

Well... if I can ever win a game you will see one. Elmer is definately a tetch better.

Hopefully I'll have something soon.

BTW.. if I can make this animation thing work, it seems a great tool for AAR's for lots of other games as well.
