And now the final question for the big price!

Why doesn't the data fit into the window it was made for???

Readme?
There isn't a 96 or the word DPI in the readme.

But I found this option in my system but it is already on 96 DPI.

From the original readme which I wrote before others made changes to it. You are right, it appears that there is no longer any reference to it.
COTA will not display properly if your Windows fonts are not set to 96 DPI. (Text will not fit properly into the screen elements and the display will appear garbled.) {Under Windows XP, you can set your DPI by right clicking on the desktop; choose Properties; choose Settings; choose Advanced; and selecting 96 DPI on the General tab. Note: This will require rebooting and will change the layout of elements on your desktop and in other applications. You may also lose some desktop customization settings.}

The symptoms of your problem certainly match the 96 DPI issue. Of course, you seem to be configured to run the game properly. The only thing I can think of is: COTA uses standard Microsoft system fonts for its display. For some reason, your font mappings are different than what is the standard default for a Windows installation. Perhaps, Paul Scobell or Eddy Sterkxe will know how you might investigate this further and resolve it.

At the moment, I don't have any other ideas for you. Sorry.

I use ATI Tray Tools but I can't think of any option that would damage the fonts.

try disabling any visual "effects" you have going under windows > display and whatever ATI might have as well see if that makes a difference.

I already disabled most of the "Show Stuff" that comes with Windows XP.
Can't think of any option that could harm CotA.

I think the German messes it up. [;)]

Try turning off 'Font Smoothing' on Display-Appearence-Effects.

Oh also make sure you are running the standard system font. If you have an XP 'theme' running try turning that off. I had a similar problem with a different game but HttR and CotA have been fine for me.

Font Smoothing did not work.

I'm running the normal XP Theme, haven't installed something else.
