I think I will give Austria a spin, or maybe Russia.

Russia would be a good first game so I would have an easy chance to reacquant myself with the game mechanics.

That's a good one. [:D]

When the game come out I plan to play France and crush the AI. That's the best way for me to learn the rules so I will better understand the game in a multi-player pbem game.

In a multi-player pbem game I would like to play either Russia or Turkey.

Don't play France or GB if you want to figure the game out right away, even versus the AI.

Try Spain or Turkey as you get to move fleets and armies without overkill getting in the way.

I know how to play EiA. I have been playing it for 10 years. I just need to learn the differences between EiA and CEiA. I would argee that playing Spain or Turkey is good for people completely new to EiA.

Agreed Hoche. I was not really replying to you, more just as a general suggestion.

My favourite is Austria. I think that the better great powers for green people are Russia and Turkey, and the most difficult are Austria, Prussia, Great Britain and Spain. France hast difficult too, but I'm a pure allied, I prefer fight against le petit caporal

Against the computer I'm going to have to play France the first time.

what can I say? I love being able to say "I am Napoleon!" and retain the use of my limbs.

being less familair with the Empire of Arms boardgame than the rest if you (I am more familiar with War and Peace and GMT's The Napoleonic Wars), I think i still like the idea of the military-political-diplomatic challenge that France provides.

Well I plan to play a full campaing against the AI to learn the ins and outs of the computer version. But after the I plan to be real active with PBEM game. Then I would love tp play against you. Don't worry you can trust me.

Agreed. 1st game solo will be France to get a feel for the AI. 1st MP will be Spain I hope because I think Spain is more fun than a sack full of wildcats :D

Solo I am even more in favor of France now that I have thought it over more. Sure you might lose the game but France has to do everything there is to do in the game - a great way to learn the mechanics!  In multiplayer I will stick by Prussia for being the best newbie country. You know who your friends are and you can get a lot of help from them, plus you only miss out on naval warfare and Britain can explain that to you. So the above post is what I want to do, this post is what I think a newbie should do.

First game for me would definitely be France with the AI set to max difficulty.  I want to see how good the AI is going to be right away.  Then I'll try all the rest of the countries.  If AI is poor, then playing Sweden as a major power might still be a challenge (if we can do that).

I hope the decision not to include a 1792 scenario isn't final.  I really think it ought to be part of the game.

First game solo: Prussia!
I really love fighting NAPI. And this way you can get some challange on the AI concerning alliances....
And after all I was really poor in the naval combats the last few times. You don't have that problem with Prussia [:D]
And I really love that feature of saving MP!

First of all is testing the game!
