Motion Implemented?

Post by netgeist »

I am playing with the PDS and cannot get players to go in motion. I've followed the tutorial and even then the players won't go in motion.

Is this feature implemented?

Thanks,

Yes, motion is there. Are you trying to get them to go in motion in 3D practice mode? If so, you need to press the 2 key on your keyboard, or button two on your mouse/gamepad, to send the players in motion.

Wow....I don't recall seeing that in the rulebook at all.
At any rate, it's not working. I can't motion in practice or in a game.

Rule book?

To send players in motion, wait for the QB to be up over the ball and ready to take the snap. Then press the 2 key on your keyboard or the 2nd mouse or gamepad button. Players go in motion. For 11 man football, the player to be put in motion needs to be the designated man in motion. This is done in play design. If this flag is not set, no players will be put in motion.

Are these plays you've designed? Sending players in motion seems to be working for everyone else so I wonder if it's something with the play design. Forgetting to ensure that the designated man in motion is set for league with limited motion is a common mistake.

It must be the MIM setting. The manual (aka rile book) that I got with the download doesn't explain what the MIM is, hence the confusion. It simply tells you to move someone where you want them to go and they will go in motion there.

I'll go try the MIM setting.

Ahh okay..

Let me try and explain.

The game allows for an unlimited motion option as you know.  However for games being played where the rule is not turned on, the game needs to know what player should be going in motion. This would not normally be an issue except that users can create plays that have more than one player in motion and use that same play over different leagues. A person may create an 11 man play that is used in a league with full motion, and one that does not allow full motion.

So, a player loads a play that has two or more players in motion. They load it for use in a game that does not allow full motion. The game needs to know what one of those players is supposed to be the 'man in motion'. This is why I added the extra step in play design that indicates to the game 'This person is the designated man in motion'.

It's a pretty common mistake to not set that.

As I'm rewriting the manual for the PDS2.0, I'll try to explain what that does better so there is less confusion.
