Engineers bug--in all original scenarios?

Post by Executioner Five »

The bug regarding engineers, where they don't move into proper bridging positions (i.e. the original Middle East 73 scenario)...would this happen in ANY of the original COW scenarios that come with TOAW III?

Not necessarily. It depends on the objective track and orders that the engineers and their formations were given by the scenario designer. In the Middle East 73 scenario, the bridging engineers were all single unit formations, each with a single objective, a hex on the Suez Canal. TOAW III PO logic tends to try to protect the engineering units more than previous versions, so these singletons were all being too timid to advance first and set up the pontoon bridges needed for the rest of the Egyptian Army.

I assume that you tried my "fixed" scenario for this, and everything else went okay with it?

By the way, this is NOT a bug. It is a case of an older scenario not playing as well, due to evolving changes in the code. This may often be the case with playing scenarios designed for older versions of TOAW. In some cases, TOAW III will play them better. In some cases, possibly worse. It will be dependent upon the design decisions made by the scenario designers.
