Printing rosters, etc. & substitution problems

Post by rcleslie »

These may not be new issues, but I cannot find answers in the forums.

1. Is MS Access necessary to edit and print rosters, etc. What about Corel's Quattro Pro? I do realize I don't need Access to run the game, but sitting away from the computer with a printed roster or schedule on my clip board and making notes is how I do things (it feels so "coachy"). Also, might I use OpenOfficeBase in place of Access? That program was mentioned in one of the forums somewhere.

2. I have been having some trouble getting substitutions to take. Before playing a game I work with the depth chart and make sure I have the players I want in all positions in all formations. Then I move to the game play and sometimes find that different players are present. Usually I can make the desired changes, but often the selection of another formation requires that I do it again. Also, it appears that sometimes player "A" runs the ball (according to the line-up), but the "play-by-play" names a different player. Are others having these problems?

3. I made this suggestion elsewhere, but I don't think it took since I can't find it in the forums: while editing a team it would be a lot easier to be able to make a general line-up that automatically applies to all formations and then be able to make modifications for specific formations.

Access will certainly do it, but it's not required. I am not up to speed with Quattro Pro's abilities but if it can open Access mdb files, it should certainly be able to print these things out. Some people use Excel for this too.

I am not aware of the specific problems you're running into, but I know the substitution system isn't working as it should overall. There is a completely new substitution system in place now for Release 3 that looks to solve these problems.

Something like this is in place in the current release. You can auto fill your roster depth chart, then make adjustments on a formation by formation basis.

The depth chart system in R3 has some extra features that makes this a little easier with more adjustments possible.

Quattro Pro does have a mode that permits processing of Access and/or Excel data. I opened Quattro Pro for the first time and have yet to figure out how to use it with MaxFB files. I don't suppose anyone out there feels like writing a brief tutorial?![&:]
