Sound off command

Post by Okimaw »

How would I make the command to turn off the sound in my TOAW 3 exe? I tried going by Telumar's illustration in the other thread and the message is that it's invalid when I try to add "nosound" while I'm at it, when I was fooling around with the shortcut I looked at my dis[play setting and noticed that the game was set to play in a maximized window, I set it to normal and now the game seems to behave better, the cursor moves the map much faster. I haven't played the PO yet but I'll see how that goes (I only play it in between pbem rounds anyway)

Another thing....This is a Q for Ralph or anyone with the requisite knowledge of systems. I'm still looking at the possibility of replacing my drivers but I'm kind of leary about uninstalling something and reinstalling something I only have the most basic knowledge of.
Here's what I got going on right now

Now here's a link to a possible replacement

Is this something that would help me out or what?

It's probably worth a try. My personal experience has been that I've had no problem with upgrading video drivers. It's been out long enough that I would expect it to be stable<g>

I think you're supposed to put "nosound" as one of the arguments on the command line ( with the quotes included ) on the shortcut target. Like this:

Hey Larry,
I tried that one and it said that was an invalid command or something to that effect.

Hey Larry,

It has to be outside the quotes that enclose the name of the program.

I just turned it off this aft and so far no crashes, I'm going to attempt a turn of a convered DNO scen in while, we'll see how that goes

EDIT Well I just loaded and played a whole turn of DNO without a hitch. Whereas when the sound was on it froze about 5 mins into the turn when I was moving my guys.
