Russian Guards divisions

Post by heiks »

Having seen the "xxth division renamed to xxth guards division" event quite a few times I only recently started to wonder about the actual effects of that change. So far I have been unable to find any.

Is there anything special about these divisions (different organization, etc.) in game terms, or is the only effect the change in the name?

As you probably know from the manual, ground units train themselves even without combat to a certain level of experience. So, Russian Guard units train to higher experience level(80 in current version) 5 exp.points per turn. The same is for elite SS units of Germans which train to 95(IIRC) in current version. Generic infantry divisions train to 80-(year-1941)*5 for Germans and 55+(year-1941)*5 for Russians.
Search for "did you know that?" thread in this forum. I was posting a lot of such things couple of months ago.

Ok, thanks. I actually remember the thread, but I think I'll go through it again.
