TOAW III slowdowns

Post by supertanker »

I really need you help.

I purchased the brand new windows verson of "The Operational Art of War III" and What is happening to me is that my game runs really fast and smooth for about the first 45 minutes or so. Then what happens is that the computer starts to take longer when processing commands. You'll click on the mouse to issue commands for the individual units and nothing will happen for a while. This continues and the computer processing gets more and more delayed until the computer will not process any more commands and just sits there for a while. I'll come back 10 minutes later and it starts to work ok again for awhile.

This did not happen to me when I played the TOAW-COW DOS version at all. So I do not know what is wrong. Someone told me that maybe my Norton antivirus and spysweeper might be the problem so I removed them both totally from the hard drive. But alas it didn't help.

I am running a Pentium 4 (3 Ghz) system with a Asus Mother board, 2x512 Meg ram operating at 140 Mhz, and a Nvidia GEforce 6200 video card. So I think I should have more than enough power. What could possibly be the problem?

Please make sure that you have the most up-to-date drivers for your audio and video components and then post a DirectX Diagnostic File. See this thread, at the top of the Support page, for instructions. Thanks.

Also, please try updating the program with the patch available in the member's area (3.0.0.17) I suspect that it's some obsolete video drivers, but the new patch also has better audio drivers, just in case that's the issue.
