Playing at work without installing ...

For those of you who want to desparately play COTA at work, but your LAN Admin would dissapprove of install such a thing on a company PC, I would just like to point out that COTA plays quite nicely via PCAnywhere or Microsoft Remote Desktop. Meaning you connect from work to your machine at home and play your game. Just a thought for those of you who work for others who fail to appreciate the uplifting value that an hour of COTA play can have on employee's frame of mind.

Problem:   I am not permitted to install any software on my office computer.  How do I install PC anywhere?

Well many people do have some form of remote control software installed as part of their ability to work from multiple locations. I believe there are some remote control clients which are completely browser based. That might work in your case.

What's the frame rate in PCA these days? I've been using early pca-versions on dial-up (ISDN, 64k) systems ages ago, and it was rather a slomo-thingy back then.

Also, what about security? The conn. on the screenshot doesn't use encryption....I'd be a bit worried about potential intruders trying to get on the host system.

No encryption - but you will notice that the host is 90.0.0.11. We run two segments. All in house networking is done on a internal segment; there is a separate external segment for Internet access. So, the demo was on the internal segment and 90.0.0.11 is not routable address.

Of course, I don't need to sneak in COTA games except perhaps from my wife, since I am the owner of the business anyway.
