Weird Weekend Happening with WiR ?

Post by murx »

Now this is for someone who gots time and friends with passion :

Make a big tabletop - map of WiR - with lots of fancy counters and so on.
Have for every side the number of HQs number of players.
Now each player will take seat of one of the commanders and issue orders - and probably ask for support from higher officials.
Prior to all the O.K.H. tells the Army Group commanders their next (one month) and far target (three month). The Army Group commanders just hand this orders down (and probably add some more orders to be executed). So each army commander gets like 15 minutes to plan his units moves/actions. This should be done quietly. Then all commanders explain one after the other their preparations and so on - and maybe ask for support by one other commander or even new units.

Commanders that give 'good orders' could give reinforcements - or another Corps (which will stretch their OPs) - or maybe higher or lower reinforcement settings and so on.

Important should be that esp. the higher commanders (OKH and Army Groups) shouldn't worry so much about winning the war but getting some intrigues to work - or some low level commander wishes to be Army Group leader - use imagination and some serious roleplaying !

One turn will probably take two or three hours to get executed - but if you have more people involved the fun isn't winning but roleplaying (how about to have a Adjutant for each commander, who might put in some 'wrong orders' for his senior to show that the commanders is incapable and he is a much better commander ?)

Weird idea, right - lots of preparation, right - but no pain no gain <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
