newbie questions

Post by mashkis »

I have been going through the reference manual and have a few questions.
What does the X and Y values mean in regards to terrain. I figure that Z is elevation height of terrain. But how do you use the X and Y information and what do they mean?

In regards to the weather, what does "clear pattern" on page 33 mean under sunset time? Is this cloud coverage and how is this info used in the game play?

Check this post
tm.asp?m=1204348

In the third post Bil H explains the X, Y coordinates.

I think Clear pattern means no clouds. I suppose it affects visibility range and (maybe) airstrikes.
It also tells you there are no rain who (by common sense) should affect movement speed, fatige and visibility.
Cheers

Thanks that helps with the X and Y question.

Clear pattern cannot mean no clouds because the above in the same pop-up says heavy clouds on page 33 of the printable Ref. manual.

Re X & Y coordinates. These are used to measure the distance across and down the map starting from the top left hand corner, which will be 0/0. Eg 12400/8670 = 12,400m across from the left hand edge and 8,670 m down from the top edge.

Re Clear Pattern. Clear simply means clear skies, no precipitation. However, it's a pattern rather than a specific state. It applies for a particular period ( in this case a day ). Within that day the particular state may change from hour to hour. So you may get some clouds from time to time but you should not get any rain. Does that help?

Thanks. So, the clear pattern is the overall weather forecast for the day and above the dashed line is the hourly weather.
