What's new with ANW?

Post by Bucks »

I'm sitting here looking at a small plastic box. The contents? Six 3.5" floppy discs copyright 1994 -> Harpoon2. I also have a CD-ROM Harpoon 2 - Admiral's edition. I've already handed over AUD $130+ for this game and now I'm wondering if I should dive my hand into the pocket for a THIRD time and try ANW?

Can someone help me with a bugfix list (not features) or similiar so I can see if my hard earned $$$ are not going to be sent after anything more than a windows stable version of a game I own twice already.

Before everybody tells me about "multiplayer" (I'm top 500 on the biggest CS-Source servers in the country 40 guys with automatic weapons is multiplayer...) and the launcher (I have a GUI database swapper for H2...) etc don't. I want to see if anything has been done to address the basic game mechanics bugs that existed in this game from the days of Harpoon2?

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't call them 'new', but there is a partial list of bugs that I believe were fixed from the H3 version to ANW on StrategyZoneOnline.

For me, the three biggest bugs fixed are:
    1) Aircraft logistics now work. No more continuous repeated attacks with unlimited ammo dumps. 2) Sonobuoys deployed by AI work. I don't even know how many folks realized that the Orion / Bear that they ordered to prosecute a sub was virtually blind. Sure, they dropped tons of sonobuoys that looked like they were working, but, in reality, they were just cluttering up the map since they didn't function. 3) Ammo dumps for facilities work. SAM units can now reload their mounts.
Other guys have reported some of their major irks fixed:
    A) The Harpoon world will (after the patch is released) rotate in the right direction so that the sun will rise in the East and set in the West. B) Aerial re-fueling.
I haven't checked either A or B, but that's what folks tell me.

Unfortunately, some pretty major bugs also got introduced during the release of ANW. IMO, the biggest ones were:
Hope to see you on the electronic battlefield soon, mate. [8D]

Hello Bucks and welcome to the Harpoon 3 ANW forums here at Matrixgames. We have compiled a long list of changes and fixes for Harpoon 3 ANW that you can access at http://mediawiki.advancedgaming.biz/ind ... poon_3_ANW

The bugs mentioned by Herman are also on our to-do list for the first patch release which we expect shortly.

Cheers,
JP
