Italian/WestF Strength calcul.: inconsistencies?

Post by cverbrug »

Hello all,
I think i need your advice here. I have been trying out if the front calculates its strength according to the rules.
I use version 3.101.According to a discussion here a few months ago everyone agreed that the strenth was calculated according to the formula:

Strength= (AFV*5)+ Squads+Recon+(art, AA and AT /5)=...
The updated tules state that 1. also AC count, 2 also exp of these AC count, 3. also exp of the units count, 4 also readiness of units count.

My first question: Is this correct?

I hope it should be, but when i make the test, lets take campaign 41, turn 1, the west front HQ gives as strength 4811 (!!!!when you right click the HQ in question) Whatever formula i use, i never manage to get that figure.
I i take readiness/exp in account= 3742
I i DO NOT take this in account=4799 (which is very close to the number reported.
My best gues is that the game does still NOT take experience into account.
That is my second question.

I do not care what the answer is, but i would like to know for sure how the situation here is.

Hello Cverbrug!
here are actual the data you are looking for.

Allied strength

italian front
1941 1000
1942 1500
1943 2000
1944 3000
1945 2750
+500 if weather is clear

west front
1941 0
1942 2000
1943 3000
1944 5500
1945 6500
+1000 if weather is clear

Axis strength

1 for each squad, recon and nondamaged plane
1/6 for each gun
3 for each tank
Note 1: experience and readiness are counted!
Note 2: Axis strength is halved if number of armored units is less than ... something... I forgot.. Just keep there couple of tank divisions and it will be all right.
Note 3: West front always adds 1/4 of OKW strength.

AFAIR there is also chance to for Allied strength to be increased by 500(Italian before 1943), 1000(West), or 750(Italian starting in 1943) if Axis leader fails check.

Thanks for the advice,

but Why of why, when you count it out,

WEST FRONT, 22/5/41
you never get to the value of 4811 strenght if you take into account the experience levels of the units present? I come to 3742 strength taking into account the experience
Only by not taking them into account (presuming they would be 100) you come to 4811.

Any ideas? or is there still a bug? or is the number reported on the HQ screen incorrect?

I am not sure about the actual results of doing this by hand. I didn't run it all out but I got about 3400 just from the infantry divisions, and another 550 or more from the panzer brigades in the West Front. Throw in part of OKW and this looks right to me.

I did this based on 243 squads per 16 divisions, at 99% readiness and average 83% experience, gives 3200 right there (in my head but I know it is with 100 points). The tanks alone provide 95 ready and experienced vehicles or 285 points. Plus the panzer brigade squads and equipment from all units. Throw in OKW and it seems right.

In addition to what Mist said, by the way, the Italian front is reduced to one third I believe when still completely outside mainland Italy (even Sicily) beginning in 1943, and the West Front when in Normandy is reduced similarly in 1944.
