Want to Play

Post by aussem »

Looking for a Jap player to my attempt to defend as the Allies.

I have been playing scenario 15, as the Allies, against two recent opponents (but one seems to have gone away and the other wants to start again).....so I think I have a feel for the game.

I have revision 1.801 loaded. I have no idea what CHS is nor what scenarios 156/157 are. So am happy with what looks like 'normal' conventions:
PDU off, Allied Sub Doc - Off, Japanese Sub Doc - Off, Auto Sub - Off, Advanced Weather - On, Allied Damage Control - On, December 7 Surprise - On, 1-day turns - reinforcement alllied fixed - reinforcement japan fixed.

I can usually push out one turn a day.......and as I am in Australia that means any body in US / EU can comfortably push a turn back.

I did recently say to my opponents perhaps it is better to set the game to one week turns.....as we don't want to play for the next 4 years and I am assuming the game engine will drop us out of weekly turn cycle if something happens.....is this correct?

You can play up to 3 day turns. No option for 7 day. I think that was dropped during developement. The game will not change back to 1-day "if something happens". With multiday turns you really have to plan well.

Most people play at the one-day per turn setting. I for one am in no hurry to finish. I have 2 games that started in November 2004, and are still going strong. One is in January 44, the other in June 43. What's the hurry?

Makes sense.....I did see a post that made the point that when the multi day turn rate is on forces may sit idle (on a beach or what ever) until the human player intervenes......I can see how that might be a bit gauling.....by the same token I kind of like the ldea of having to plan well to avoid 'idelness' and sort of justify (in my mind) any failure to avoid non action as being just an 'abstraction' for allowing multi day turns dealing with micro-management.

Having said all this, if the convention is to play daily turns I am happy to comply.

Are you interested a game?

BTW - Can anybody explain what CHS and RHS are and if installed will they change the base installation, OOBs etc of the game?

There is absolutely nothing wrong using multiday turns. I have 1 PBEM with 3 day cycle. 1 PBEM using 2 day cycles.

Those games have been fun and you really don't have micromanage everything. Also the pace which the game flows is good. Another positive thing is that a lot more suprises do happen.
