Question?

Post by varjager »

I was sitting on sunday playing my turns against Muzrub and Loki, when it struck me.There has to be a lot of people out there that are enjoying this game.I was wondering if there is anyone who has tried to creat just a map of the Kursk offensiv?
Or just the sevastepol offensiv? I dont design scenarios my self. But i know that there are alot of talented people out there.Like RickyB Russia firts scenario. Is it possible to just to make a part of the map in some easy way? Thanksfull for all help.

The normal map can be cut down to just a portion of the normal map easily, if that is what you want. There are 2-3 regular scenarios in the game that do this, but it would probably result in too small of a map to play on for a single battle with limited movement? If that is what you are looking for, I can create it for you, or post how to do it, as it is easy to do with editwir. When the map is reduced in size like this, half the production is considered to go to the units on the reduced map, and half everywhere else. Off map factories work but cannot be controlled, which probably makes sense if you are playing a limited period and portion of the war.

A map could also be created just for this type of scenario, on a different scale. Everything would have to be looked at for redoing, and I don't know if it would play very well or not, but it could be done. The map would be the hardest part of doing this.

RickyB thanks for your answear.I was just curios.Cause if you look at the 42 case blau scenario the map is cut down size.Could it be possible to do the same thing in a "Zitadel" scenario? And save the troops involved?
Sorry if i miss spelled anything!

It is even easier than I though. I took the obzit and obzit.md files, copied them to files I renamed scena and scena.md, opened scena in editwir, selected Z for scenario data. I changed the start x and y and saved and the scenario was fine - I didn't even have to reset the map display setup. It would just take a change to the scenario length and the desired top left and bottom right coords to create this based on an existing scenario. The only other change required would be to move necessary HQs onto the map area, including OKH/OKW and Stavka/RVGK. Probably reserves would need some changes also, and remove some reinforcements and it is ready. Probably 1 hour of work to make the changes, at the most.

I really shouldn't but it seems easy enough for the basics that I think I will try to finish it up. I have a lot of other things on my plate right now, but I will see what I can do.
