i recently found out the use of the special supply in wir and would like to know how many players are using this extra supply in the games they are playing.
i never have used this as i did not know it existed?

Almost everyone uses it, the debates have always been how much is, or should be, used.

This is interesting in that it is similar to some of us who never used SS excessively anyway, and it disputes some of the claims that insist the game can't be played without heavy use of SS.

Its hard to say if there is a consensus on this. You're going to get some varied responses to this issue, so you'll have to read them all and make your own decision about the issues of "valid" game mechanics and logistics related "realism".

For my opinion, I have always avoided heavy use of SS, I might give SS one time to each unit under the HQ's command if the whole army is active, or only give SS to the units that really need it, such as units under attack or units heavily engaged offensively. The only "exception", so to speak, is using SS almost every turn for active panzer corps, whether they really "need" it or not, since there is always the possibility that the armored unit will end up out of range for SS in the next turn, so you give it an SS boost whenever possible.

I usually use SS, but always try to not overuse it. And most difficult - you have to judge yourselve what is overusing. But keep in mind that you need some PP being left for combat.
Now in one of PBEM games I decided to try play with almost no SS (which means I use it once or twice per turn, and there are many turns with no SS at all) and so far works quite well.
Think first, fight afterwards, the soldier's art.
