Custom Campaign'44 (pre-release)

Post by Mist »

Hi all!
Here you can download my custom scenario of campaign'44. It is nearly final result of my efforts. I had tried to keep its OOB and numbers as much historical as possible, but there may be some errors. I appreciate any comments. Hope you will enjoy playing it both against AI and even human. Playing for Germans is certanly very hard job, but I've tried to give them a chance in opposite to standard WiR campaign. Game lasts 26 turns and has its specific objectives for both sides. Theoreticaly Germans can "win" by holding enough victory objectives(this can be done against AI) but their primary goal is to not let Soviet side to win.
I hope to release final version after getting some reports from people(and further testing by myself) and after Rick will finish his hard job with upgrading tank and aircraft data.
I also want to thank Rick for his help.

Varjager and i are playing your '44 scenerio and it is somewhat easier for the germans (me) than the standard '44 game. Varjager is having fun chewing up the center/north and has forced me to pull back. (the south up to Lvov holds firm)
I'll keep you posted.

That's what should happen if Axis player tries to hold ground and keep all his objectives secured.
However in the game against myself I 've managed to deliever some painfull blows using elastic defense to Soviet side on North. Center is certanly doomed if Soviet player is not AI.

Thanx for reporting. Rick had upgraded airforces and leaders table(according to Kuniworth notes)and I am going to send you final version of this scenario.
By the way, what you think about using this scenario(with standard objectives) as one of tournament games?

Scores can be calculated as:
Draw: +5 German, -10 Soviet
Soviet victory in '44: -3 German, +5 Soviet
Soviet victory before spring '45: -1 German, +2 Soviet victory after winter '45: 0 German, +1 Soviet

The only thing that seems to have worked for me so far is to amalgamate all of the PZ Corps that I can create and try and lop off the isolated corps that the AI will offer me. I'm not sure that this would have any success against a human opponent but the the game is a lot more fun to play as the germans than the standard scenario. Nice work <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> .
