the great war in the east has began again!!!!!

the results of the first weeks fighting are as follows.
army group north has taken riga and is on the outskirts of kaunas.2 russian corp are trapped west of riga . the russians have lost 111000 men and 143 tanks in this region.
army group centre has captured vilna, brest and grodno in heavy fighting and is racing towards minsk . the russians have lost a whopping 250000 men and 926 tanks on this front.
army group south takes lvov and tarnopol and drives east to the dnieper . the russian have lost 156000 men and 678 tanks in the south.

army group north ha smashed 3 russian corps and takes daugavpils , rusains losses 66000 men and 12 tanks.
in the centre von bock takes minsk and kaunas, russians losses are 35000 men.
in the south zhitomir falls with the loss of 14000 russians.
the russian army is now on the run , expected line of resistance on the dnieper?

army group north heads to pskov and shatters a measly russian blocking unit.
army group centre is 40 miles from mogilev and takes 35000 russians prisoner.
army group south captures odessa and shatters 2 russian corps with the loss of 27000 red army men.

army group north has taken pskov and shattered 2 russian blocking corps in the process.
army group centre takes mogilev and vitebsk and is over the dnieper, russian losses in this sector are 66000 men and 61 tanks.
army group south has smashed its way over the dnieper at kiev 3 russian corp surrender and another 3 are shattered, russian losses are grave 195000 men and 452 tanks.
hitler expects the russians to cave in ?

army group centre continues its drive east taking another 30000 russian prisoners .
army group south takes uman and kiev and is over the dnieper in strength.

not many tanks killed. You could hit real problems when you hit his serious defence lines or later when he counterattacks.

army group north smashes a soviet corp in the batlic regions and takes tallinn! 4000 russian prisoners on this front.
army group centre is at the gates of smolensk and initial assaults have been repulsed!35000 red army dead litter the battlefields along with 35 tanks.
in the south the germans advance towards dnepropetrovsk and are now 60 east of kiev.

army group north continues its advance towards lenningrad.
bitter fighting around smolensk, 30000 soviet and 87 tanks are smashed but smolensk still holds.
army group south have taken kharkov and poltava, 6000 prisoners are taken along with 30 tanks.

Soviet turn 8/10/41

Not much action in the North.Seem panzers from AGN are driving to Moscow to help AGC.

In the central sector the russian troops are entrenching aroun Vyazma to try to stop the german onslaught.

In the South the Ukraine has been completely evacuated due the danger of encirclement of the panzerdivisionen stationed around Kharkov.

vyzama has fallen to army group centre and the panzers are less than 100 miles from moscow! the russians have lost 108000 men and 335 tanks.
in the south the germans have cut he railway to stalino!

News from the front 8/31/41 :

Stavka can confirm that all panzers from AGN are supporting the drive to Moscow going to the road to Rzhev.

Also has been spotted three panzer korps around Voronezh I believe from AGS.

So the main german attacks are only against Moscow but with heavy pressure from 4 different direcctions, Rzhev, Vyazma, Tula and Voronezh.

Russian reserves are going only to Moscow...

The VVS is active from the beginning of the war, attacking airfields and forward german elements.

in the centre the in bitter fighting the germans are 60 miles from moscow russian losses are 133000 in men and 379 in tanks.
the germans advance towards rostov and stalino falls.

army group centre is in the rear of the russians at tula and continues its battle to moscow 57000 men and 132 russian tanks are left after the battles.
army group south takes vorozneth and is at the door to rostov.

No german attacks in the front!!!! <img src="eek.gif" border="0"> Seems Germany have finished their summer offensive...

The front runs now from Leningrad-Demyansk-Rzhev-3 hex from Moscow-Tula-Voronezh(German owned) to Rostov.

hitler has seen the sense in the futil attacks on well prepared russian positions .
all army groups are preparing for the winter and have decided to take some early holidays before winer proper arrives .
it is now 5/10/41 and it is snowing <img src="cool.gif" border="0">
