some feedback and posssible bug

Post by bsprecher »

just got the game and wanted to post my thoughts before I get used to all the minor details, so here's some feedback based on 2 battles.

the zoom function with the mousewheel is to slow for my taste, and can't be adjusted in the menu!

I would be nice to have an option to see all of the orders given to units at the same time.

dead infantery sometimes looks dead, but sometimes just looks like they're lying around waiting for something to shoot at. A bit confusing, although you get used to it after a while

It would be usefull to be able to see wich unit is selected on the minimap.

Maybe the graphics engine could get some work? It feels a tad unresponsive.

And last, the sound of one of my squads dying doesn't really sound like a whole squad dying in vicous combat

And I might have found a bug, halfway through my second game I hit the play button, and the game went to AI planning fase... after wich nothing happend. I could still scroll around and look at unit specs, but not give any orders or go to the main menu. Had to ctrl-alt-del in the end. The game was still doing something though, as its CPU usage stayed at ~95%

I hope it's constructive feedback!

on a unrelated note, is there some way I can change my nickname? It's not the best one I've ever thought of [:)]

This might be a bug to, but then again it might be a feature [:)]

Ah yes, the levitating Soviet MG project... [;)] Do you have a save that shows this, by any chance? I'm definitely curious to see how it got up there.

Regards,

- Erik

Hi bsprecher,

I agree, adding scroll/zoom speed to options is on the long list of planned improvements.
I would be nice to have an option to see all of the orders given to units at the same time.

This is already in the works for the first expansion.
dead infantery sometimes looks dead, but sometimes just looks like they're lying around waiting for something to shoot at. A bit confusing, although you get used to it after a while

Could you be more specific on what you are seeing here?
It would be usefull to be able to see wich unit is selected on the minimap.

Agreed, good suggestion.
Maybe the graphics engine could get some work? It feels a tad unresponsive.

What are your system specs?
And I might have found a bug, halfway through my second game I hit the play button, and the game went to AI planning fase... after wich nothing happend. Do you have a save file that duplicates this perchance? I hope you were able to resume from your autosave!

The best way is really to create a new account, as the forum admins are a bit backlogged.

Also, you can use the 1-4 number key to 'jump'-zoom.

Thanks for the quick reply,

Unfortunatly there was no internet on the vacation spot (no really) so I couldn't respond sooner.

I'm not sure if i have any savegames. I don't save because battles don't tend to take very long but maybe there is an autosave somewhere, I'll check when I get back.

systems specs are XP2800+, 512DDR, 6600GT, with al the latest drivers etc. I know, not state of the art, but FPS will go as low as 12 when looking at a bigger section of the map! Compared to other games the graphics engine feels a bit slow, a bit to cpu intensive maybe?

On the dead infantry, I'll get a screen of what I mean.

Thanks again
