Storm Over Iraklion scenario

Post by Jakerson »

Setup: Standard settings with painfully realistic orders delay playing German side.

After Para dropping I consolidated my positions sending few probing companies toward Iraklion and toward airfield over the mountainous region.

During a night my Troops started all out assault to seize Iraklion and its valuable harbours from Eastern and Southern side of town. It was all very messy and confusing there was no frontlines only fighting all around the Iraklion. Battle ravaged all night, next morning and day.

After a while it started to look like that I’m not able to secure Iraklion totally. I had to order withdrawal toward south in the mountains my troops where very battered, low on supplies and tired. Some of my companies formed guarding perimeter allowing my battered troops to rest safely at mountains.

As a bright point my probing companies was able to seize very lightly defended airfield I ordered them to defend it and committed some fresh companies from my reserves to help defenders.

On the 4th day I started manoeuvring and assault against second objective from east and south after a heavy fight my troops seized the objective. British troops made many counter-attacks but any of them wasn’t able to drive my troops away.

German paratrooper regiment casualties was 2400 men, British lost 1400 men and most of their armoured forces in these 5 days of fighting. German partially seized valuable objectives. Result: Marginal defeat for Germans. [:(]
