RE: Daring raid foiled by flying ships.

And yet here I am, nearly a year later, watching in awe as the Italians shoulder their battleships like canoes and march them from Taranto to Venice. (Do they have to cross the Alps?)

Why do I never learn?

RE: Subs in new patch

<t> It's always best to return your subs to the sub pens if you can. Of course, that effectively cuts your subs' range in half. You can't hit the distant shipping if you do that. So you weigh the risk of leaving your sub at sea in exchange for a hit on an easy target. That's gotta be tough for the ...

RE: Daring raid foiled by flying ships.

Thanks for confirming that. As long as I know it's reliable and not just a glitch, I can expect it.

RE: Game Crashing with 1.201

<t> Excellent!<br/>
<br/>
I just got the 1.201 patch yesterday and the game crashed today for the first time ever. (It was during the AI turn, and I had saved just before that; when I rebooted and reloaded from the save the crash didn't repeat.) Glad to know you've already figured out the fix. And ...

Daring raid foiled by flying ships.

<t> Having conquered Egypt and shut down the Suez Canal, the Afrika Korps watched in stunned amazement as the British pulled all of their transports from the Indian Ocean into port in Bombay. India was known to be nearly undefended, the Commonwealth troops having been either lost in the fighting in ...

RE: China

<t> <br/>
It's a game rule that China's production is extremely low, to reflect the historical situation. China was not yet very industrialized (compared to the other major powers), was several years into a civil war, and had also been at war with Japan for some time before the game starts. China ...

RE: A challenge - playing on Impossible difficulty

<t> <br/>
This is exactly the setup I was using for my current/last game, except at standard difficulty level. Now it's 1942 and Germany controls everything from Finland to South Africa, from Portugal to India (except Russia). Japan is in excellent shape as well, except having lost Foochow to a ...

The manual layout is a bit confusing, but it explains the game mechanics, which is more than I've come to expect. I remember Microprose's M1A1 Tank Platoon; it came with a 200 page manual most of which was historical, technical, and tactical info rather than game related...but those days ...

I'm 28. When I was 10 or 11 one of my friends had some WWI fighter dueling game where you each moved and then cross-referenced your positions and headings and looked up a page in a book to see a picture of the other fighter as seen from yours, along with your chances to hit. Don't ...

<QUOTE><s>
</s>The sub war also needs looked at. It just doesn't "feel" right. Most sub warfare should be defensive in nature (i.e. subs attack, destroyer escorts sink them), not offensive (i.e. destroyers sortie out, sink subs then return whence they came). <e>
</e ...

RE: New Player Questions..extremely confused

<t> 1) Repairing them may not always be enough. <br/>
a) You must have enough factories to make use of the resources. Later in the game, factory multipliers kick in, but early on you may find that you have more resources than factories, so a capture doesn't give you any additional production. The ...

I recall that in old board wargames (the ones with hexgridded maps and cardboard counters and lots of tables to look up in the rules), it was a standard design doctrine that 3:1 odds were needed for an attacker to have at least a ...

In both of these games, I pursued a Mediterranean strategy, pushing through Egypt, then splitting my advance, one force ...
