RE: Cutting off the AI from supply

Hi Paul,

It does have an effect, especially rail lines, however the AI does get a helping hand with logistics that you, as a player, don't.

Replayability

Hi,

With any given scenario, if it's replayed, are the enemy units always in the same start positions and follow the same initial scripts or is there some variation?

<t> Hi briklebritt,<br/>

You appear to be playing a modded version of the game.<br/>
<br/>
There is no 81mm mortar in the standard game so it's hard to say whats going on with the mod you are using.<br/>

The UI element in your shot above is non standard (should be grey, the brown ...

RE: Is there any point to blowing up bridges when in single player?

Hi Paul,

You'd be correct. It does have an effect but for the German AI it's fairly minimal.

Zhukov could be put to better use elsewhere.

RE: Why did finland surrender?

<t> Hi boldairade,<br/>
<br/>
Most likely Finland feels threatened.<br/>
<br/>
The game mechanic for this revolves around a line of markers on the map (white letter 'S', near Helsinki) within Finland. If a Soviet unit reaches one of these Finland will sue for peace immediately as they consider ...

RE: Mountain Infantry?

<t> Hi DadDM,<br/>
<br/>
The divisions are made of up individual components which you can see on the bottom bar. Mountain infantry are essentially a light infantry division. While you could expect them to have enhanced abilities in mountains the effect of this is well below the scale of the game ...

RE: 2 questions about supply and Replacement

Hi Sudwind,

Any unused replacements will wait until there is a need for them elsewhere. They aren't lost.

The base supply amount is fixed and can't be changed as it would upset the game balance otherwise.

RE: “Information delay” implementation

<t> Hi Nikolas,<br/>
<br/>
The player seeing the enemy engaging 'unseen' enemy units is exactly how the helicopters work in the game at present.<br/>
<br/>
The friendly AI wouldn't need to change (although any improvement would be welcome). The game and friendly A.I would work as it currently ...

<t> Hi Elmo,<br/>

The AI in AB is certainly not 'fully autonomous' as it requires constant input from the player in the form of orders.<br/>

The point of contention is whether you are giving those orders based on a god like perspective of the battlefield or one that incorporates ...

RE: “Information delay” implementation

<t> Hi,<br/>
<br/>
Riffing off the ideas above.<br/>

In a lot of tactically orientated games information on the enemy isn't given to the player in a 'god-like' manner. Instead there are delays in the information reaching the player (up through whatever chain of command is in the game) and ...

<t> Hi Ryan,<br/>
<br/>
If Stalin didn't purge his officer Corps in '37 & '38 Barbarossa would, in all likelihood, have been a fizzer. The Germans were massively outnumbered and with even half decent Soviet leadership and an absence of 'decision paralysis' Moscow wouldn't have a lot to worry about ...

Is the overhaul you mentioned planned for the current, or next, iteration of the game?
