RE: The AI

<t> Historically a channel crossing was a VERY difficult task. Personally i think there are 2 options for this end. Either remove the crossing arrow (to avoid the silly runovers) or at least to set the movement cost to 4 or 5 (at least as demanding as a forced march). The latter would also mean that ...

RE: Best battle I have ever had

<t> In detailed battle as Sweden vs England 1802 I inflicted 62000 casualties sustaining only 1200. I had strong artillery and in a winter setting the mostly infantery enemy charged me over frozen lakes , how very stupid !!! It also helped with their strong morlae so I could kill moore of them. In ...

RE: Thoughts on best military upgrades?

Organized foraging is very useful. Also I like to start getting massed artillery (all 3) after which I put a lot into cav.

RE: Making peace

<t> Follow up, in continued gaming I kicked their asses but I find it strange with the surrender rules. In turn first Spain and then England starts to surrender after I've occupied all of their territory : BUT do they surrender to me ? Of course not ! They give up to Turkey, Prussia which are weak ...

RE: Detailed Combat Initial Deployment

I totally agree that initial deployment to often is moronicly stupid. I'd also be happy to see the AI sometimes on smarter defense. I've won to many battles by just waiting for the attack, blowing it to pieces with strong artillery and finishing with my cavalery.

RE: how to use cavalry and militia?

Militia is quite useless ! Keep it in garrison. Cavalry is for taking artillery out and the best is the use against routing units. Even mediocre quality like cossacs can inflict terrible casualites in pursuit so make sure that they are not disordered or routed when the fun starts.

RE: November Update

Being an experianced war (board) gamer since more than 20 years with favouries as ASL (squad leader) and EiA i can hardly wait until its released, but I prefer the testers (and Marshal) taking time to give us a good version !!

RE: I played Third Reich so I'd like to know more about WIF?

I can only agree with previous posts. I like 3R as it is easy playable ánd not consuming to much time, WiF is a monster but a far better game. The drawback is finding tome and devout opponents for it so a computer version would be excellent ! Cant wait !!

RE: AI reinforcing

<t> Certainly I can but I've never achived kill ratios in quick battles that are anywhere nere those I can get in detailed. The chance to win vs high morale (ie england/sweden) is also much smaller , I find it annoying to kick their asses in the beginning but when their army is small enough thet ...

Death of generals

What are the chanses of officer deaths ?? I've recently had generals killed in charges suffering perhaps 20 killed, whereas i've only seen AI casualities after attacks causing 1000+.

Making peace

<t> I'd be happy if someone could give me solid advice of how to get peace without total surrender. For exampel in my current game as Russia(96) I'm not allowed to go ahead and kick Prussias butt since we both are at war with England and Spain. The wars with those are a joke; England tried invading ...

Questions ?

<t> Some questions ?!<br/>
-In detailed battles I've never seen my garrison units fire at the enemy : bug or normal ?<br/>
-Is it possible to wipe out a major power ? As in my current game Prussia is reduced to Brandenburg only and not much of an army but still makes interferance, though not tough ...

AI reinforcing

<t> Mostly when using detailed combat I can whip the enemy, but in my recent game the AI is cheating me of victory by starting whith a smaller army thus going to quick mode and at the same time reinforcing to higher numbers (making me lose).<br/>
Is this a bug ? I'd rather still have the ...
