Anemic Replacements

I am playing as the Germans in the Wacht Am Rhein scenario. I played a Replacements card on the first turn and was bummed by the pitiful amount of troops I got for it.

Is it really worth 5 PP to play the card to get 30 or 40 volksgrenadiers and a couple of tanks?

For a front that covered 75 ...

Re: Japanese Replacement Build Rates Messed Up

Cute and very rich kitty! Unfortunately, however, your post doesn't help. Are you hinting that there is some DLC to purchase? No replacements until you buy the latest add on to the game? That doesn't seem like a Matrix way to go. (More like Paradox.)

Japanese Replacement Build Rates Messed Up

Just returned from the game after a long break and noticed something odd with the build rates for Japanese devices. From this screen shot, it appears that the Japanese get no infantry squad replacements. Kind of tough to fight a war this way. I must be missing something, right? No IJA Infantry ...

Question About Replacements

<t> Really enjoying the game so far, but I have lots of questions. One has to do with a basic replacement schedule. Is there a way to access, in game (not in the editor), my anticipated replacements? It would be really nice to have a ballpark figure of how many replacements I have coming. Nothing ...

Question About Bridge Placement

<t> Just got the game a couple days ago, and absolutely love it so far. I just have a few questions about some of the mechanics. <br/>
<br/>
One in particular is placement of bridges using the New Bridge card. When there are multiple river hex sides where the bridge can be placed, it seems as ...

RE: Is there any point to not digging in all of your units towards the end of your turn?

<t> Thanks for the input guys (even if you disagree about the supply bonus). I will just trudge through the formation lists and dig in everyone close to the front lines. <br/>
<br/>
No offense Hellen_slith, but I'm going with sPzAbt653 for now on the supply thing. Based on his number of posts, he ...

Is there any point to not digging in all of your units towards the end of your turn?

<t> If you leave units in mobile mode, they tend to get hammered if attacked. Also, units in defensive deployment are supposed to get a supply bonus. So, it would seem that you would be an idiot to leave units in mobile mode at the end of your turn - no benefit and lots to lose. Can anyone confirm ...

This is one place where limiting your artillery range can help. Prevents them from burning up all the supplies for places you don't want them to support.

It would help if you would post screen shots of some of your attacks. I've tried with two infantry battalions and a Panther battalion and kicked the fortified arty out of the hex. The Germans have a huge amount of supporting artillery. And ...

My opponent was Bill Greenman (Khyberbill). It was about 2 or 3 years ago that he passed away.

I usually play as Japan in WiTP AE.

RE: Super rivers and retreat

<t> Thanks for the help. It just would have been nice if the manual could have spelled that one out.<br/>

Yes, I have been away from the Matrix forums for awhile. I used to play a lot of WiTP AE, but my PBEM opponent passed away midway through the game, and I never really got back into it ...

Yes, they do have a pretty hefty HMG package, but no AT (at least not in the ones I was looking at). One of the more outrageous beatings I ...

Why are artillery units so powerful when defending in a hex alone?

<t> I'm playing Bulge 44 as Germany, and I consistently find myself attacking single American artillery units. Time after time, I get my butt kicked by these lone artillery units. What's up with that? I thought historically, artillery was highly vulnerable when directly defending alone. They should ...

Super rivers and retreat

Do super rivers block retreat? I tried the search function in the manual, but didn't find anything. I would assume super rivers do block retreat (unless the retreating unit has ferry bridging teams attached), but I just wanted to be sure before I run the next round of combats.

Found the problem. Just had to adjust the resolution on my computer. After some trial and error, I now can see the names of all units in the attack planning window.

Mouse Over Not Working In Combat Planning Window

<t> In TOAW III, when I planned an attack, I could mouse over units and get their names, now I cannot do this - no unit name pops up. Is there some setting that I need to change to get this function back? It seems odd that the devs would eliminate this very essential function. When planning attacks ...

Shuttle Function

<t> I think I am doing something wrong when I try using the shuttle function. I've tried several times to shuttle bomber groups to new bases and whenever I do, I find a detachment of the unit at the shuttle base and a copy of the unit back at the original base. I've then tried transferring the copy ...

Thanks. So different types of terrain offer different types of advantages, not just a generic/uniform modifier for all types of combat? Nice feature! Makes you plan your attacks/defense in a bit more detail.
