RE: Turrets

In my experience, it usually fires on persuers, although I've heard its capable of firing at missiles.

RE: Remove Speed Cap?

<t> Speed in starshatter is handled primarily by a variable called "vlimit," it represents the exhaust velocity of your ship's engines, after which your ship will start to acellerate slower. This is generally in line with relativistic physics becuase it gets increasingly harder to reach higher ...

RE: Gathering Storm carrier landing

It was the same situation for me, although you can usually go on engines off if I'm correct, so long as you aim at the center of the bay.

Yeah this is looking pretty promising, if the video is any indication, the game's tapped into the best way to get new customers, really good face quality (so it seems, anyway.)

Sorry I took so long to reply, but i figured I'd be able to make time to do some testing on your suggestion (unfortunately RL ate it) but thanks for the help, from what I've tested, it does seem to work better.

RE: Atmospheric battles

<t> Well as far as Starshatter's technology goes, the only thing to make things fly over distances efficiently is to give em wings. Realisticaly, it would be a rather colossal task to keep hundreds of tons aloft, unless the capships are aerodynamic and have massive wings.<br/>
That said, you could ...

RE: What pissed you off on Starshatter 4.5?

<r> "Vulcan 1 quantumed into Korius" that has to be my least favorite showstopper, because it strikes without warning (gasp) and you find yourself sitting in a space that's SUPPOSED to be occupied by a carrier's launch bay (the carrier's even there) but it's not, and just about everything else is ...

Missile Woes

<t> I've been experimenting with different fighter missiles, but have had trouble getting the AI to fire them, I'm curious as to weather the manueverability of the missile is factored or the maximum aiming elevation/azimuth is used, as I've had rather odd results with using hemispherical self_aiming ...

RE: Can't Load a Mission

<t> Justr tried Goblin's method, it worked when i started and saved a campaign, exited SS, and re-loaded the campaign. This is quite the obscure bug, with the kind of testing resources Milo has, I'm surte I wouldn't have rooted it out. Either way, I'm sure he can find a more permanent fix (or find a ...

request for modding tutorials

<t> I've run out of any sources for advanced information for the Starshatter SDK, and was wondering if there were still any development websites still up (since SSDs SQL-based tutorials have been dead for quite some time) It's very much appreciated, in advance.<br/>

Well, you'd have to have new content to use the sounds, however i think theres some documents on modding in custom music at starshatter.com, I'm not sure, however.

RE: What do I need to get started?

<r> At the moment, there's nothing you can do to the dynamic campaigns (hopefuly Mr. DeCanillo is developing some more powerful software for this sort of thing) In the meantime, the stuff on starshatter.com will tell you what you need to know, and since Wdboyd flew the coop, I'll do what I can to ...

so that leaves me and one or two other blokes that develop content for starshatter? (when they feel like it) I have no clue why this community is getting whittled down like a block of wood.

RE: Seeking multiplayer details for LAN play

<t> Terribly sorry for the lack of activity on that part, I have to confess however, that the dynamic campaigns, as far as I know, are only single-player compatable, there are still the scenarios (which are much more diverse and in larger numbers in the current version than the demo). However, I ...

2d sprite drawing problems

<t> Just figured I'd drop this in here for any devs/dev. My computer, which functions off of a radeon 8900 card, with directx 9.0 and 1-22mb RAM.<br/>
Some o0f the sprites in the menu system appear at half-width, and are spliced and pixely, which detracts quite a lot whenever I complete a single ...

On the concept side of things...

<t> As a sucessful game desighner who has been doing so for some odd years in his spare time, I find a very important side of content creation and game creation in general is concept work. In other words, defining what you want your game or mod to achieve at large, what the general feel of the ...
