Re: Switching Float Planes on Subs

Thanks Tony for your input. I've talked to Alfred about his situation in regards to the Forum on multiple occasions and I too would be loath to put words into his mouth. But the facts are his account was suspended for a finite period of time which expired long ago and he was then informed he ...

Let me try and intervene here a bit as I interact with both of you a fair amount.

I believe that you are both correct. He chooses not to return, I believe, because he feels that there are certain "things" permitted in this forum that are not in alignment ...

FYI; Alfred was NOT "driven away" as you put it. In fact he has the green light to return whenever he wants, he has chosen not to.

Re: Switching Float Planes on Subs

BB, I understand all about "height of eye" and target height above the horizon, I have spent years at sea (literally) and way too many hours staring at a PPI display. My question concerns definitive statements about the GAME that are often made with little or no sources put forth. I think we all ...

I think that you are incorrect. I do believe that radar only works within the hex but a greater range than one hex increases the odds for detection. But ...

Re: Switching Float Planes on Subs

Glens can be effective as early warning barriers for the Japs if the weather cooperates... Petes can't be on sobs. I use Glen equipped subs as a sort of tripwire outside of remote islands and they work ok. It's the best Japs have until radar comes along.

Re: Assigning Leaders to Ground Units

Assault means the person is highly aggressive and should be placed in a unit destined to attack, while combat means the guy is good in the line but falls short in terms of aggression and should be used in frontline defensive units.......both have good combat skills normally.

Some units can't divide because a fragment it coming later as reinforcements, check your reinforcements list. This happens a lot with Jap air units.

Re: Switching Float Planes on Subs

It would be considered "gamie" to use Jakes on subs. unfortunately many naval air types are misused by players, most unknowingly, such as using certain aircraft on CV type ships that were not capable of handling them. but such details are usually ignored. However using the Jake on a sub is way too ...

Please understand that "the manual" is a snap shot in time over a game that spans decades. Before you allude to it being "wrong" what version of the game are you playing and what rewrite of the manual are you using?? I've experienced sweeping from minesweeping TFs when directed to a hex and ordered ...

Pax is right, adding range greatly increases pilot fatigue and stresses the airframe.

Re: Why no interception?

The aircraft on CAP well attempt to intercept enemy aircraft that are spotted up to four hexes away. However they will concentrate over the hex where they are based.. This will allow the aircraft to intercept up to four hexes away from their home base. It differs from the long range CAP in that the ...
