RE: I have previous ver. should I get this one?

<r> As stated above, its only a graphical update, and its still got its bugs. So depends. If you like the previous one, and think enchanced graphics will make you enjoy it more (and you dont have any annoying bugs), go for it. Otherwise, sit on the fence, your bum might go num before something else ...

RE: Starshatter: Saved Game

<r> There was a problem with the save file, where you need to modify a string of text used for the date or something. There is more info in the forums somewhere, had a quick look but could not find it. But its there, somewhere....<br/>

I had a similar problem, before realising it was the windows task bar getting in the way after alt tabbing too and from the game.

RE: Sound Issues

<t> I didnt take the steps required to confirm that this fixed anything, but do you have any debug directx drivers? Go into dxdiag and list the dxfiles, then check for any files with *d.dll on the end, chances are its a debug file. I had 2, d3d8d.dll and d3d9d.dll. At the same time as removing I ...

RE: Game looks great but..

<t> The best way to take out mines is to use rockets. One volley will be more than enough to take out a mine, just make sure you dont miss. From memory just fly around a bit when they start shooting you, their energy will quickly go down and stop firing, or use your wingman to fly in first and use ...

RE: The conclusions of Operation Highland

I've updated my sound drivers, as a newer version was released just a while ago, which had improved the sound problems somewhat. I'll give your idea a go and see if it gets any better.

RE: Single Mission

Cheers mate. Had a play of yours, and enjoyed it. Took out the enemy, but doesnt really count, as I ended up being adrift in space with no engines or thrusters [:(]

I like the random elements to TGS, but end up missing some good old scripted missions.

RE: Missing wingmen?

Maybe you atuopiloted off before they could launch, so you left them behind? I've had problems on occasion when flying patrols, with my 1 wingman, who decides to fly off north no matter what orders i give him (form wing, attack target).

RE: mistake buying gathering storm so soon

<t> I had sound problems with 4.5, and found out that if you run dxdiag from the run option in windows start menu and just leaving the program stopped the repeats and reduced the number of skips - though not eliminated. In TGS the sound system seems to be better, as I dont run dxdiag for this. There ...

Cool, I was a bit worried about how much I would have to pay for the overhauld version after just recently buying the current starshatter. I'm looking forward to seeing an active community in here, its a bit on the quite side now.

RE: Sound Issues

<t> Just bought the game today and was having problem with the sound too. The music would stutter and the sounds wouldnt play without skittering or cutting out. So I thought I would use dxdiag to lower the acceleration, but actually found something quite strange. I ran 'dxdiag' from the command line ...
