RE: Question From a non wargamer?

<t> I have played Birth of America a lot.&nbsp; If historical action in North America and at a very digestable level of complexity is what you are after it is fabulous.&nbsp; I am very much looking forward to BoA2.<br/>

I have been war gaming for about 25 years and ACW has a bit of a ...

RE: Training officer vs. Drill master?

[:)]&nbsp;Thanks a bunch.
Would one regiment with Washington and Von Steuben convert 2 companies per month?
&nbsp;
Been playing British under the Jagger mod, getting ready to give the Americans a go.

RE: How to Get Playing?

<r> Adam, I would add one more observation having just finished a second full campaign vs. the computer as the Empire with the difficulty turned up.&nbsp; It is far too easy for hte Empire to steam roll the Rebels.&nbsp; I am going to try the Mod by Jager from the Ageod forums<br/>

Play Balance and the Brits

<t> Just a couple of quick observations from playing through through the full campaign (plus a couple of the short ones) as the British about 1.5 times (so far).<br/>
<br/>
It seems that there is really no reason to use the problematic British generals after mid 1776. Burgoyne is slow, leave him ...

RE: How to Get Playing?

<t> I have&nbsp;played through once as the British (default settings) and am working through a second go with the difficulty settings turned up.&nbsp; It is a really fun game as is.&nbsp; The only bug that has been of much note is that you can't move naval artillery between towns/forts.&nbsp; It is ...

RE: Supply - healing & consumption

<t> Thanks Joe.&nbsp; I think I figured out what was not making sense to me.<br/>
&nbsp;<br/>
Each town seems to have a limited amount of unit healing it can provide per month.&nbsp; So a large stack with many damaged units looks like nothing is happening because it is spread so thin.&nbsp; In ...

BoA Gold release?

The last post I saw indicated the BoA Gold would be released in Sept, but I can't find it and it is about to be November. Have I missed a link or is it delayed? What is the expected release date now?

Thanks,
George

Supply - healing & consumption

<r> <SIZE size="3"><s>[size=3]</s>I am really enjoying the game, but stuck on 2 issues:<br/>
1. What are the rules for units healing damage while resting inside towns? Sometimes I park a damaged unit in a town and it starts healing right away. Other times it seems to sit there for months before it ...

Training & Tory Malitia

New to the game and really like it so far. A 2 quick newb questions:

1. How long does it take to train malitia to untrained and then trained regulars?
2. Can the Royal Army do it or only the Continental Rebels

Thanks.

Tactical Play

<t> Having spent a lot of time over the last few evenings with the updated FL I am struck by one observation. With the expanded maps and Alfred's improved AI I probably spend most of my playing time either setting up for battles that don't happen (AI retreats) or watching Alfred retreat from a brief ...

RE: Strange Behavior: Alfred

<t> Yep, I like playing out the tactical battles, it is the charm of FL.&nbsp;&nbsp;I got frustrated with the attacks that were only witdrawals eating up so much time so I decided to have a go at attacking the computer and driving Alfred from Boston.&nbsp; Wow, Alfred's army was huge.&nbsp; Used up ...

Strange Behavior: Alfred

<t> I am back playing again after being away for a while and have been struck by 2 things:<br/>
<br/>
1. At the default difficulty the Rebels must get a lot of influence because I am fighting huge malitia armies around Boston. I think there are 2 armies in excess of 12,000 men EACH. This is on the ...

<t> 1.&nbsp; A dialogue window for save/load games with the option to delete games so you can see what saves you have and manage them.<br/>
2.&nbsp; A way to simply end tactical battles without setting them up if the computer or the opponent is just going to run away.&nbsp; Alot of time gets wasted ...

Updated Manual

<t> Hi all,<br/>
I am one of the players from back around the original release. I am planning on playing For Liberty some more (and trying to get a LAN game going).<br/>
<br/>
Is there an updated manual or text file that explains all of the changes from the original manual. Things like the effect ...

RE: Training, Transfer, & Influence

<t> Does this mean that regiment transfers all malitia and for regiments below 40 experience will be free again?<br/>
<br/>
Would you consider dropping the influential stat for Washington? Of all colonial generals he should have flexibility in assigning/transfering regiments.<br/>

Training, Transfer, & Influence

<t> Just fired up the game after being away since the shift from BF to Matrix. I check and most of the Colonial Generals who are trainers are still influential (all the full generals). This creates tramendous bottle neck for the colonials who are so dependent upon training and transfers. Plus it ...

For the advnaced rules:&nbsp; activation checks and a chain of command in which subordiantes would be activated if the "stack commander" was activated.&nbsp; Just a thought.
